I was born in Culver City, California on tax day in 1984.... I was raised in the Midwest. Champaign, Illinois to be exact. After receiving my Associates in Fine Arts from Parkland College, I decided to follow a dream that I have had for a long time. I always wanted to return to Phoenix since I left when I was 6. I have such fond memories of this city. I also have family that I have reconnected with during my stay :) I lived in various areas of the valley over the last year and a half that I have been here. I currently live downtown on 1st and Roosevelt, in the Arts District. I love the entire scene here. Coming from the midwest where there are miles and miles of crops and forests in every direction, I see such a difference in the relationship that civilization shares with the natural environment in these two cities. As I explore the city in which I live, I see such drastic contradictions in the development choices that are made.  I use photography as a visually recognized tool to communicate my view of the downtown Phoenix as it exists from a street level view.

Artist Statement

As I explore the city in which I live, I see such drastic contradictions in the development choices that are made.  I use photography as a visually recognized tool to communicate my view of downtown Phoenix as it exists from a street level view.  I want people to have a deeper sense of where they are.  Understanding of surrounding is an essential part of greater living. These photographs are of places that are contradictions to what is directly visible to the average Phoenician.  As my understanding of Phoenix is refined I want to transcend my experiences through photography as a medium of education.  The ultimate goal is that my photographs will convey an activist message that motivates viewers to want to change the community.
